Caitlin Squillari has seen her study at ACPE not just help launch her career, through her internship and being hired subsequently, but also helped her beyond that with ongoing networking and relationship building opportunities. Today Caitlin shares with us her journey from ACPE student to Special Projects Officer for NSW Rugby League and her hopes for the future.

What did you study at ACPE and when did you complete your studies?

I completed a Bachelor of Sports Business in 2013

What made you decide to study at ACPE?

I decided to study at ACPE because of my love of sports. I grew up playing Rugby League and then moved into dancing when I was a teenager, so I’ve always lived my life around sport and ACPE provided the perfect course for me to turn my love of sport into a career.

I hear you are now the Special Projects Officer for NSW Rugby League, talk us through your career journey from studying to now?

I started my career with the Penrith Panthers through my professional experience as part of our course structure in the Bachelor of Sports Business. I also did a short internship with now Head Coach of the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues, Brad Fittler with his social media and photography business. This helped me confirm I was studying the right course and was on the right path for my future career.

Once I graduated from ACPE I was offered a full-time role with the Penrith Panthers and moved onto the Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and now the NSW Rugby League.

Throughout my career I always bump into someone who has studied at ACPE and there is a sense of comradery within the industry with fellow Alumni which always makes networking and getting your job done a lot easier. The networking functions helped me build confidence and the necessary skills needed to make an impression in the sporting world.

I understand you have had a dream from day 1 to be the CEO of the Panthers or an NRL club. Tell us a bit about that and your passion for sport.

I grew up playing Rugby League and followed the Penrith Panthers since before I can remember. To be at a high executive level at any sporting club would be a great achievement and fulfil for me a life-long dream.

What’s next for you?

My focus now is seeing through the 2019 Origin series, where hopefully the Blues can go back to back in Origin Series wins. From there who knows!
