Diploma of Football (Development, Management and Performance)

The Diploma of Football (Development, Management and Performance) is a specialised football training diploma that provides the skills and knowledge applicable to several football codes, including soccer, rugby league, rugby union, AFL, rugby 7s, wheelchair rugby, futsal and touch football. You will learn how these global sports deliver exemplary practice in contexts such as coaching, officiating, community, participation, management skills, and player development and well-being.

Course structure
Split into two semesters, the ACPE Diploma of Football features four units per semester and is designed in collaboration with the football industry. This football training diploma also features real-life case studies and a minimum of 45 hours of placements in relevant football environments.

This course is designed to be flexible and can be studied through a combination of on-campus, online, and blended delivery.

Career opportunities
Upon completion, students can pursue career opportunities as game development managers, referee coordinators, participation officers, football coaches and community program leaders.

 

Associate Degree of Football (Development, Management and Performance)

The Associate Degree of Football is a specialised football training degree that equips students with skills and experience for an advanced career in the football industry. You’ll learn various football codes and how to deliver exemplary practice in coaching, community and participation, inclusion, management and leadership, sports science and high performance.

Designed in collaboration with the football industry, classes are taught by industry experts and revolve around real-life case studies of football professionals, clubs, and organisations. Work-integrated learning placements are a key aspect of this course, where you will experience a minimum of 110 hours of placements in football environments.

Course structure
This two-year degree is divided into two semesters with a total duration of 12 weeks each. In your first year, students will cover the basics, such as coaching techniques, skill acquisition, sports business and more, before taking a more advanced look at the football industry to understand football tactics, strategies and analytics, leadership management and football science.

Bachelor of Football (Development, Management and Performance)

The Bachelor of Football (Development, Management and Performance) is our unique football training program that provides students with advanced skills and experience that can be applied to several careers in the football industry, no matter if you’re pursuing a career in soccer, rugby league, AFL or more.

You will learn how these global sports deliver exemplary practice in contexts such as coaching, community participation, management, leadership, sport science, and high performance.

Designed in collaboration with the football industry, classes are taught by industry experts and revolve around real-life case studies of football professionals, clubs, and organisations, ensuring the outcomes are industry relevant and sought after. Work-integrated learning placements are a key aspect of this course where you will gain invaluable experience with a minimum of 260 hours of placements in football environments.

Course structure
Our Bachelor of Football is our longest football training program, totalling three years of full-time study and six semesters, each 12 weeks in duration. With the opportunity to add in two electives in your final year, you’ll learn everything there is to know about the football industry.

Yes, students can apply for an ACPE football coaching course via FEE-HELP, a loan provided by the government. Keep in mind that this financial assistance is only available for domestic students. ACPE is proud to also award sponsorships to deserving students who foster academic excellence.

What kind of practical experience can I expect?

Depending on your course, you can expect between 45 and 260 hours of experience placements in football environments. This will ensure you are work-ready and well-networked within the industry before you graduate!

How long do the football programs take to complete?

This will depend on the type of course you wish to enrol in and whether you will be undertaking the course full or part-time. Our Diploma of Football, Associate Degree of Football and Bachelor of Football take one, two and three years, respectively, to complete full-time. ACPE also offers an optional Undergraduate Course of Sports Coaching, which takes six months to complete.
