The ACPE Early Entry program is aimed at assessing potential HSC graduates based on your Year 11 results and predictive scores. This does not remove the requirement for completion of the HSC but merely provides you with an indication of your eligibility pending completion of the HSC results.

Students who are completing Year 12 at Big Picture Learning schools are eligible for entry based on the Big Picture Learning Pathway. Big Picture Education Australia and Participating high schools offer students a parallel portfolio based pathway from Year 9-10 onwards as an alternative to the HSC. This pathway recognises the need for some learners to work on areas of interest in a more self-directed way and to develop a broad range of capabilities. This is assessed via the Australian Qualifications Framework and the Australian Core Skills Framework on the basis of their subject interest. These students are highly passionate about what they are doing and highly motivated to learn and achieve.

Eligibility and requirements
If you have completed a Big Picture Education Portfolio and Year 12 at a Big Picture School, you may be eligible for admission on the basis of your Portfolio, International Big Picture Learning Credentials (IBPLC) and a recommendation from your school principal.

You can apply for all courses except the Bachelor of Education (PHE) and the Bachelor of Dance Education.

If this sounds like you, depending on your work and life experience you may be eligible for mature age entry.

Eligibility and requirements
If you are over the age of 21 and do not have an assessable qualification such as an Australian Year 12 certificate, you may be eligible for entry into an ACPE course.

You must be able to provide evidence of your work and life experience and/or a recent Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) Multiple Choice test result. See STAT information here.

If you wish to apply for credit for industry experience relevant to your course, refer to ACPE's Recognition of Industry Experience page.

The direct entry requirements for education degrees are sometimes just out of reach of students aspiring to become teachers. If you did not meet the direct entry requirements (3 Band 5s, one of which being English) in the HSC, you may be eligible for entry into the Pathway course.  ACPE has two teaching degrees, the Bachelor of Dance Education and the Bachelor of Education (PHE). Each of these degrees has a NESA approved pathway degree.

What is a pathway degree?
The pathway degree has exactly the same units in the first year as the teaching degree, so you will not lose any credit for units completed. If you pass all your units with a credit average in the first year or are able to pass the ACER LANTITE test, you may be eligible to transfer to the Education degree. The pathway degree does not add additional time to your total course duration.

Eligibility and requirements
The education pathway is open to current year 12 and non-current school applicants.  You will be assessed on your performance in relevant Year 11 and/or Year 12 subjects.

Who is eligible to apply?
Current Australian Year 12 students or non-current school applicants
