About the course

The Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion is designed to develop an understanding of the social, environmental, political and economic determinants of health. This course is designed for professionals working in Fitness, Allied Health, Health Care or Physical Education looking to upskill or retrain.

The full time course structure for the Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion short course can be completed in 6 months of full-time study. The course is divided into 2 x 6 week teaching periods with 2 units per teaching period.

Understanding Health

  •  This subject provides students with an understanding of the various social, biological and environmental determinants that shape the health of individuals and populations. It is also designed to equip students with the foundational academic learning, numeracy and literacy skills required for success in all aspects of their studies.

Global Health

  • This subject explores the major determinants of health in a global setting. Students will investigate how socio-cultural, environmental, political and economic factors influence global health issues and how global health players have been trying to address these.

Principles of Health Promotion

  • This subject introduces the core skills of health promotion through examining the principles, theories and the different methods of
    evaluating health promotion programs targeting specific public health issues.

Planning Health Promotion Programs

  • This subject introduces the core skills of health promotion through examining the principles, theories and the different methods of evaluating health promotion programs targeting specific public health issues.
