ACPE PARTNERS WITH THE GILCHRIST FOUNDATION TO FIND, FUND AND FOSTER STUDENTS IN NEED.

The Australian College of Education is thrilled to announce our latest partnership with the Gilchrist Foundation. Set up by the family of former cricketer Adam Gilchrist, it has the mission of assisting students in furthering their education and/or sporting ability through financial assistance, and active mentoring, under the motto “We Find, we Fund and we Foster.”

Stan and June Gilchrist and Adam’s brother Glenn, together with a special group of associates, launched the new national not-for-profit charity. One of those associates was the  late Richard Doggett. The then irrepressible Richard inspired the family to establish the Gilchrist Foundation, a not-for-profit charity directed at reaching out to disadvantaged, disabled and unempowered people all over Australia and providing opportunities for them to pursue tertiary studies.

With a new Board, Gilchrist Foundation has set out to identify prospective tertiary students who may otherwise be forced to abandon their aspirations. This may be because they find barriers such as geographical isolation, financial issues, family trauma, broken relationships and so on. Once identified, these students can apply for Gilchrist Foundation scholarships which may change their lives.

“Our Board includes some outstanding, experienced leaders who convinced me that this was the right move as we debated how we could best assist these less-fortunate young people, Without the restrictions of geographical or bureaucratic parameters we are free to work closely with tertiary institutions across our nation. This is very exciting for us all!” – Stan Gilchrist

ACPE is  proud to establish a relationship with the Gilchrist Foundation to make a difference to students who need it most.  These ACPE scholarships will provide disadvantaged ATSI  students with an opportunity to combine their love of sport with their passion to pursue further education. The first ACPE scholarships will be offered soon.  At ACPE we welcome students from diverse backgrounds and students from all walks of life make ACPE their home while they pursue their studies and their love of sport.

As ACPE CEO, Debbie Le Roux says, “Both ACPE and the Gilchrist Foundation believe that education and sport can transform lives and it is not surprising that there is a natural fit.  We believe that this partnership will have a positive and lasting impact on the communities we serve.”
