At ACPE we are constantly working with industry experts and leaders to bring students the best possible experience and employment outcomes. Bachelor of Sport Business (Leadership) student, Nethan Doungmanee, is a great example of this. Nethan recently completed, ‘IT in Sports Business Management,’ a Sport Business unit lectured by Alex Mednis, the CEO of SportsGrid.
SportsGrid delivers revolutioniseSPORT, a cloud-based platform used by sports clubs, associations, and state and national governing bodies in Australia and several other countries. The overall landscape in which SportsGrid sits is one of sport, technology, people and education. They aim to be the ‘silent infrastructure’ that powers the industry.
Nethan now works at SportsGrid as a Platform Specialist, where he provides customer support and service to clients utlising the revolutioniseSPORT platform. When Nethan first started studying, he had not considered a role in sports technology. However, as technology-based solutions become the norm, it is important for students to be aware that this intersection in the industry exists.
Nethan says that the content he learnt at ACPE has had great significance to his role at SportsGrid, particularly in understanding how clients and their sports operate. Further to this, he has said that working at SportsGrid has allowed him to gain new and transferable skills to develop within the sports industry.
As ACPE continues to work with leading industry organisations including Sports Grid, students can enter the sport industry in unexpected and exciting ways.
