Staff Bio

Alexandria Panetta (Lexy) is a Sydney-based artist, choreographer, and academic with a profound interest in dance performance, improvisation, choreography, and film. As a part-time academic at the Australian College of Physical Education, Lexy teaches in both the dance and education fields, alongside her ongoing research in dance academia. Lexy’s work delves into the philosophies that underpin dance practices, improvisation, and composition, articulating her interests in affect theory, ephemerality, the phenomenon of instantaneous experiences, as well as creative pedagogy and curriculum development. She thoroughly explores theory and practice in her written work and movement research.

In addition to her academic role, Lexy is the Learning Associate for the Sydney Dance Company (SDC). She brings her unique insights and perspectives to educational approaches in dance and creativity. As part of the Advanced Training team at SDC, she contributes as a teaching staff member and content writer/educator, developing resources and materials that contextualise and reflect industry-valued practices and approaches to pedagogy. These resources are delivered to the pre-professional cohort and are additionally employed in various professional and educational workshop settings.

Lexy continues her creative and artistic collaborations as an independent artist and educator. She fosters creativity and movement efficiency in her teaching practice and improvisatory research. Additionally, Lexy tours as a Teaching Artist for the Sydney Dance Company, sharing dance repertoire and creative tasks with dancers around Australia.
