Why you should use COVID-19 downtime as the perfect opportunity to upskill

To say the last few months have been a ‘trying time’ would be an understatement. For most people during this time, job security is on the decline, unemployment is hiking and the constant need to remain socially distanced has left many wondering how to not only pass the time but remain competitive in the job market.

Fortunately, the Australian Government has acknowledged the impact of Coronavirus on the economy and the individual as a result the government has released a stimulus boost to the education sector and in essence this has a flow on affect for individuals looking to upskill or retrain. The prevalence of online learning means that there are plenty of courses available to be completed in your own time, from the comfort of your own home.

So why should someone consider upskilling during this time?

Undergraduate Certificate in Sports Leadership Development

To show our ongoing support for both individuals and organisations across our sporting community, we are delighted to share with you our Undergraduate Certificate in Sports Leadership Development at the heavily discounted, limited time rate of $400. The Undergraduate Certificate has been developed in response to the needs of the sports industry as a result of COVID-19, the rationale for the 4 specified units is to provide professional upskilling, employment and participation in lifelong learning to those that are either currently working in the business of sport or have lost their employment. This Certificate would therefore allow the enrolling students to demonstrate the learning outcomes expressed as knowledge, skills and the application of knowledge as a means to either attain the necessary skills to take on more responsibilities and/or move into leadership positions or to re-engage in the industry in positions requiring key leadership knowledge and skills.

Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion

The Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion is designed for mature students and professionals and will develop an understanding of the social, environmental, political and economic determinants of health. Students will learn the core domains of health promotion including how to plan, advocate, and evaluate policies and programs to bring positive changes to the health of communities using a preventative model. This course is designed for professionals working in Fitness, Allied Health, Health Care or Physical Education looking to upskill or retrain.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Health Promotion is also a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). As a result, the cost of this course to the student is $2,500 which has been heavily discounted by the government’s subsidisation of the course.
