With less than 200 days to go until the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Sharon Jarvis a two-time Paralympian and ACPE Undergraduate Sports Coaching Certificate Student recently competed in the Para-Dressage Protocol Day. Hosted by Equestrian Australia High-Performance Program, Sharon was not only able to compete in front of a Tokyo 2020 judge but also got to perform on her horse Romanos in the able-body competition ‘Dressage by the Sea’. Competing under FEI conditions this was a rare opportunity in the last year for Sharon to be exposed to the conditions riders and horses will face at the Games. In the able-bodied competition Sharon was delighted to pull off a personal best score in the highly competitive Prix St. George class.

Sharon is currently on the short list for Tokyo and has two more selection events to attend in April and May to try and cement her place in the Australian Team.

“I decided to enrol in the Undergraduate Sports Coaching Certificate at ACPE as it is highly likely that I will retire from competing internationally after Tokyo. I will stay involved in my sport as it is my passion and because of this I felt the course was a good opportunity to learn more about myself and what I believe effective coaching and coaching programs to be.”
