ACPE Bachelor of Coaching (Strength & Conditioning) students recently completed a Worked Integrated Learning placement as part of their subject, Athlete Talent Identification and Development . Students visited ACPE partner, Wests Tigers, where they had the opportunity to learn about the practical application of talent identification and development.
The ACPE Athlete Talent Identification and Development subject focuses on identification and development of sporting talent through the use of performance analysis and coaching. Students are exposed to current TID models used in various high performance sporting environments. On completion of this subject, students are able to critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge of TID principles and practices in various sporting (coaching) contexts.

As part of the experience students were able to see the brand-new state-of-the-art Wests Tigers facility, giving them fantastic insight into the elite sporting sector. Students were also able to learn about the intricate details of both the physical & psychological traits sought by the club for their youth programs & senior team.
Bachelor of Sports Coaching student Josh Hickey thoroughly enjoyed his time with Wests Tigers, stating the experience emphasised ”the importance of a strong support network behind the scenes of large sporting clubs and the money which is invested with the aim of improving performance and experience for both players, coaching staff and all others involved.”
