At ACPE we believe that you are unique, and we understand that not everyone learns in the same way. Each student comes with their own expectations and personal challenges. When you become an ACPE student you will have access to a dedicated team of support staff whose sole purpose on campus is to ensure that you receive bespoke support you need. More often than not, success is influenced by defeating self-limiting beliefs, setting realistic expectations and addressing inefficient time management skills. Consistency is the key and our Student Learning Services team provide exactly that – consistent support on how to address a range of factors that are known to impede student performance.
Studying for a degree can be a big step up when compared to high school and the Student Learning Services staff are here to make sure your transition to university study is as smooth and painless as possible. Whilst we can’t do the work for you, we will support, guide, and help you in planning, researching, and writing your assignments. We can also give guidance and tips to help you cope with all the stresses and strains of university life. If you are worried about presenting your work for assessment, don’t panic, we have a wide range of options available to help!
Our Student Learning Services team are experts in academic literacy and numeracy which makes them an invaluable resource for our students. Our team can help you to set realistic expectations of how much time you need to dedicate to your studies, how to juggle part time work and a full-time study load and of course how to write and reference appropriately in academic discourse. The Student Learning Services is your resource centre for all things related to academic skills and success at ACPE. We take learning support services for students very seriously, and we are quite proud of our offering.
There are a range of ways in which the team can support you. This includes:
· Arrange 1-on-1 appointments (providing tailored advice and practice in any areas of concern)
· Give literacy feedback on drafts of your work before submission
· Make comments and suggestions that will help you further develop skills to improve assignments
· Arrange phone or online consultations – if you can’t come to campus
· Offer useful handouts regarding study skills, planners, academic reading and writing, spelling and punctuation, and referencing.
· Arrange wellbeing sessions with our Student Counsellor if you need wellness support
· Have a chat to our student success advisor
We have been supporting students like you for more than a century and we are pretty good at it too. The most recent 2021 QILT survey data shows that students rated us 15% higher than our competitors in terms of the level of support provided. We achieved an overall rating of 94.4% for student support compared to the average of 80.9%. Support is however only one part of the equation; success is ultimately up to you and whether or not you are willing to do the hard yards to succeed. The good news is that you are not alone on this journey, we are there to support you every step of the way.
Whomever you are and wherever you’re from, it is extremely important to us that you get the support services you need to successfully pursue your studies. As with everything in life, your success ultimately depends on you – whether or not you are willing to take responsibility for your learning and access the opportunities available to you.
