Following the success of the inaugural Fast Track for Female Coaches Course in 2019, ACPE and Sport NSW are proud to deliver the course once again in 2021. Due to COVID-19, the course will be delivered fully online with 37 coaches participating in the 6-week course, which commenced Tuesday October 12th. The Fast Track for Female Coaches Course aims to connect aspiring female coaches, provide exclusive insight, and further develop their coaching and leadership behaviours and competencies.
Jessica Schwartz, Program Manager at Sport NSW shared “The Fast Track for Female Coaches program is something that we are extremely proud of at Sport NSW. In Australia, we are experiencing a rapid rise in the profile of women’s sport and female athletes, however women are still underrepresented in leadership in coaching roles. The value of the Fast Track course is that it provides a space for aspiring female coaches from a range of different sports and around NSW to connect with their peers, and to build their capability and readiness to progress along their chosen coaching pathway.
Gareth Long, Director of Program Innovation and Development at ACPE had this to say “It is wonderful once again to see ACPE and Sport NSW team up to support the Coach Development of a group of selected female coaches chosen across a wide range of sports. ACPE academics will work alongside expert coaches to provide support across a range of coaching topics including developing a coaching philosophy to leadership in coaching. For example, in week one the coaches were supported by Katrina Powell (Hockeyroos Head Coach) and Lydia Bedford (England Lionesses U17s Head Coach) to understand their coaching values, beliefs and behaviours.”
Gareth went on to share his delight in seeing three ACPE students taking part in the course “ACPE are very proud of three of our own undergraduate Sports Coaching students who were selected to be involved in this course. Ashleigh Brooking (Rowing), Elissa Andrews (Cricket) and Jen Cornelius (Hockey), now have the opportunity to further their own studies on ACPE’s Sports Coaching degree whilst networking with other female coaches engaged in this exciting cross-sport program. We wish them all the best with this fantastic opportunity along their continued coaching journey.”
