What is O-Week?
This is the first step on your road to your dream career in sport, health, fitness, dance, or education. During O-Week we will welcome you to our family, you will discover how to create success from your time here at ACPE and how to have an unforgettable time while you complete your studies.
All new students are required to complete orientation (O-Week) before week one commences. To get the most out of your orientation for semester one 2021 it is recommended that all new students attend one day in person, on campus, and access our online orientation information prior to commencing week one.
With all that said, here are 5 reasons you should definitely attend O-Week!
- Meet new people
It can be daunting starting out somewhere new, perhaps not knowing a single soul! Particularly if you are coming straight from High School where you have been with the same cohort for six or more years! Luckily, everyone attending O-Week is in the same boat, meaning O-Week is the perfect time to strike up a conversation with someone new, providing the potential to make a new friend. Plus, if they are doing the same course as you, chances are they will have similar interests to you!
- Learn your way around campus
There is nothing worse than coming into your first week of classes and not being able to find your way around. O-Week provides you with a fantastic opportunity to learn your way around campus before classes start. During O-Week you will meet our academic and support staff who will share their knowledge about how you can set yourself up to succeed as a student during your studies. You will also find out where to ask for help when you need it most.
- It is an opportunity to suss out the public transport and parking situation
Since ACPE is located in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park, there is definitely a plethora of public transport to get you to campus. Use O-Week as a trial run to see how long it will take you to get to campus, or if you plan to drive, learn all about where the best parking areas are and sort out your P5 Student Parking form with Student Services.
- They will explain to you what census date is
Ahhhh Census Date, you have probably heard all about it, but you may not actually know what it is. Census Date is the point in the semester at which your enrolment is considered final and is the last point at which you can apply for FEE-HELP.
- It will be loads of fun!
O-Week is super fun! By engaging in campus culture, you will start looking forward to the next chapter in your life.
