Hills Football General Manager, Matt Rippon is an ACPE Alumni and a sports industry guru. Having worked in various positions across a wide array of sports. Currently Matt is the General Manager of Hills Football which is governing body for association football in the Hills District of Sydney, Matt overseas the association which comprises on 21 members clubs, Over 13,000 Winter Players, over 3,000 Summer Players, over 350 referees, over 1,000 coaches and thousands of volunteers. Matt reflects on his time at ACPE and why he chose to study at the college:
My name is Matt Rippon. I am currently the General Manager of Hills Football Inc. the governing for all football activity within the Hills region of northwest Sydney. Previously I have enjoyed executive management positions at Tennis NSW as the Head of Operations, Football Australia as General Manager, Participation and Football NSW as Member Services Manager. Prior to entering business management/operational positions I worked very much within the player development/pathways space at National Premier League (NPL) club Nepean FC and within the High Performance Unit programs at Football NSW.
I chose my course because after looking around I found that the ACPE course catered perfectly for my interests within the Sports Business environment as well as the benefit of being facilitated by industry processionals which were able to not only provide quality real work knowledge and examples but also great networking opportunities.
ACPE provided a great framework and understanding of the complexities and best practices of the sports industry. With a wealth of industry leaders to meet, the learning experiences were endless.
The college is ideal for the those looking to pursue a career within the sports industry. Not only is the course work specifically targeted to an area I’m passionate about but it’s also catered and equipped to set you up for future successes, ACPE is also ideal for both gaining knowledge in and outside of the classroom and networking with, an array of industry professionals
