Staff Bio

With a diverse 20-year career spanning the spectrum of education from preschool to adult learning in both dance, education and fitness industries, Yolandà brings a rich tapestry of experiences to ACPE. A retired professional Muay Thai athlete and a three-time world champion, Yolandà has competed and represented Australia globally in countries including Dubai, Sweden, China, America, Thailand, and extensively across Australia. Yolandà ’s passion for teaching is matched only by their dedication to transferring a contagious enthusiasm for the profession to future educators.

Teaching Interests

Yolandà is deeply interested in the functional anatomy of the human body, focusing on muscles, bones, and injury prevention strategies. Additional teaching interests include classroom and behavior management and equipping future teachers with the necessary tools for success.

Research Interests

Current research efforts are dedicated to exploring the factors influencing female participation in combat sports, aiming to identify barriers and enablers at various levels of engagement and possible transition from recreational to competitive pools

Projects

Vice President of the Athlete Commission for Oceania: Serving as the Vice President at the International Federation of Muaythai, focusing on the representation and development of athletes within the region.
Lead for Gender Equality in Muaythai for Oceania: Leading initiatives to promote gender equality within the sport across Oceania.
Muaythai Australia Athletes Commission: Engaging in strategic discussions and decision-making processes to enhance athlete participation and development in Australia.
Member of the NSW Muaythai Female Development Committee: Contributing to efforts aimed at the development and promotion of female athletes in NSW.
