ACPE is pleased to announce a new partnership with Hockey NSW, which sees ACPE become the primary partner of Hockey NSW’s Accelerated Athlete Program (AAP). The AAP program has around 130 athletes aged between 15-18 and creates development opportunities for players both on and off the turf.

The two-year deal with Hockey NSW will see ACPE deliver a range educational programs to players and coaches throughout the year and give Hockey NSW access to our resources such as facilities and student volunteers.

At the partnership launch on Friday, Hockey NSW CEO David Thompson said he was excited at the opportunites the partnership with ACPE would offer.

“We are very excited to link up with the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE). The athletes in AAP will benefit tremendously from an education partner with a long history of excellence in the sport and fitness industry. Hockey NSW prides itself on developing and equipping our athletes not only with on-field skills, but with important life skills as well. We look forward to seeing the great work that ACPE will do with our AAP athletes. We are also thrilled that Hockey NSW and our athletes will gain access to ACPE’s premier facilities, just a stone’s throw away from the Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre. Additionally, we look forward to providing ACPE students with a chance to put their skills and education into action with career opportunities in our organisation and at our events.”

Michael McKnight, Student Engagement and Partnerships Manager at ACPE said they were delighted to partner with Hockey NSW and support AAP along with it’s athletes.

“We are looking forward to working with the AAP program and assisting the athletes with their development both in the classroom and on the turf. As a Sports College that has been operating for over 100 years, we also understand how important it is provide our students with unique industry experience opportunities with organisations such as Hockey NSW.

With the launch of the Hockey One League and regular state competitions, our students will have even more opportunity to work in the industry whilst completing their studies. A career in sport is a viable option for many of the athletes and individuals both in the AAP program and within the Hockey NSW network, we hope to assist by providing clarity around how a career in sport may look for them and detail the wide range of career opportunities available in the sport sector.”
