How to Access your ACPE Student Email Account

It is important for you to activate and use your ACPE student email account. All official ACPE correspondence will be communicated through your ACPE email address, so please check your email regularly.

  • Your User name is your Student ID.
  • Your password will be your date of birth in the following format DDMMYYYY (e.g. 15091990 for date of birth 15 Sep 1990).
  • To connect to your email you will need to go to https://www.office.com/.
  • Log in using your ACPE email address and password.

Enrol in your first semester units

This step allows you to enrol in your units for your first semester of study.

What is a Full-Time Study Load?

You are enrolled in a full-time load when you enrol in 4 units a semester. If you are enrolling as a part-time student, you must enrol according to the unit order as listed on the table below. For example, if you are enrolling as a part-time student with 2 units in the Bachelor of Dance Practice, you must enrol in the units listed as 1 (GHS1301) and 2 (DAN1102). It is important to note that your eligibility for government social benefits, such as Youth Allowance, may be affected by your study load.

To enrol into your units, go to your ACPE Paradigm record and follow the steps in the video below. You will be choosing the specific classes for the units when timetables are released, usually 5 weeks before classes start. Notification will be sent to you when timetables are available for your view on the website.

Enrol in your first units video

If you need assistance in completing this step, contact your personal Student Enrolment Advisor or the Student Services office (studentservices@acpe.edu.au) or ACPE Registry (registry@acpe.edu.au

Paying for your course
Your tuition fees are calculated based on your enrolled units at census date. Check the Important Dates Page for the census dates and the Fees Page for the indicative course fees and current unit fees. There are two funding types for the payment of tuition fees:

  1. Direct Payment
If you are not eligible for FEE-HELP or do not wish to access FEE-HELP, you will be issued an invoice to your student email account following the semester’s census date. Payment for your tuition fees is due the week after census date. You can choose to make one full payment by the due date or pay in instalments during the semester.
  2. Payment through FEE-HELP
FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme which assists eligible students in paying part or all of their tuition fees in an approved course. For more information, refer to the Study Assist website or download the HELP Study Assist Booklet. You will be required to submit your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Tax File Number on the application.
    .

Register for your classes

Having enrolled in your units, you will need to choose the class timetable options for each of your units when the timetables are released.

  • The ACPE Registry will inform you when the timetables are available for your view and planning. Once you receive the links to the timetable and the class registration guide, go to your Paradigm record and choose your preferred classes.
  • Students enrolled in the on-campus (face-to-face) units are expected to attend their timetabled classes.

Class Options

A unit may have one lecture plus several small group tutorial or workshop options from which students choose one option. Lecture times are fixed and are non-optional. Each class has a maximum size; once a class is full, you must choose from the remaining available options. So get in early as soon as class registrations open.

Class hours per week

The number of timetabled class hours per week which a student is expected to attend for each unit, is shown on the tables below.

Online Mode

For students enrolled in online mode, there are no timetabled class times, but you are expected to engage in your online classes weekly.

Students who are not enrolled in an online course should undertake the face-to-face classes for the unit.

Register for your classes video

Watch the video below to learn how to choose or change your class sessions for your enrolled units.

Don’t forget about O-Week!

Orientation Week is here to help you find your feet as you start your studies at ACPE. It marks the start of your student experience as a member of the ACPE family. Your attendance and participation in O-Week is vital for your success. It also allows you to meet fellow first-year students and the rest of the ACPE family. It is a great opportunity to create unforgettable memories. This is what O-Week is all about.

Get ready for your classes

Get off to a good start by checking your class information on Canvas, the College’s Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Make sure the units you have enrolled into are showing up. The enrolment data are uploaded daily; check the next day if your units are not showing up yet.
  • Once on the LMS – have a look around! Click, read, watch and play.
  • Familiarise yourself with your unit pages.
  • Find your Unit Outline and Unit Assessment Guides. Download these and keep them somewhere you can access them easily!
  • Find out who your Unit Co-Ordinators/Lecturers are for your units.
  • Locate the Zoom link for you lecture/classes if you are an on-campus student or check where you are supposed to be for your first class! Some of you will have classes on campus first up so make sure you know when and where you are supposed to be. The Zoom link for your lectures will be in the “Modules” section of each unit page.
  • If you are an online student, have a read through the Welcome page and look through the modules, as this is where your lecturer will be telling you what to do.
  • Download lecture notes if your unit has them. Use them to make notes on when you’re in your lecture!

  • Recognise when something isn’t right
  • Be an effective bystander
  • Know how to support our friends and colleagues
  • Call out and report disrespectful behaviour
  • Seek support
  • Create a safe campus community.
Accordion Content
  • At all times, the priority is to support victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment – give them your full attention. Remain calm and remind them that it is not their fault, and that support is available.
  • Focus on the person’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Show empathy, respect and understanding.
  • Acknowledge their feelings.
  • DO NOT DISPLAY JUDGEMENT OR DISBELIEF – THIS WILL CAUSE FURTHER TRAUMA.
  • Allow them to speak.
  • Allow them to choose the next steps. They may not want to report it immediately.
  • Only ask information that is necessary to provide support.
  • You can seek support services, but you have to have their consent to do so.

It can be confronting to hear from someone who has been sexually assaulted. It is sometimes difficult to know what to say when this happens. Your words matter especially when you are responding to someone who has suffered such a traumatic experience.

Use phrases like:

  • It’s not your fault that this happened.
  • I’m sorry that this happened to you.
  • How can I help?
  • I believe you.
  • You are not alone.
  • How can I support you with this?
  • Also pay attention to how these words are received by the individual.
  • Show support in your actions. Don’t try to take over and tell them what to do.
  • Don’t judge or criticize. Avoid too many “why” questions because this can be misunderstood as blame.
  • Comfort them.
  • Don’t get angry on their behalf and don’t assume that you know how they feel.
  • Encourage them to seek support and speak to a counsellor.
  • Check in with them.
  • ACPE Counsellor – A registered psychologist is available all year round to support students. The Counsellor can be contacted via email counsellor@acpe.edu.au.
