Want to know more about studying and student life at ACPE? Meet Jen, she is one of our student ambassadors.
Hi there! My name is Jen and I am currently in my third year at ACPE, studying a Bachelor of Education (Physical & Health Education).
Before I came to ACPE, I was studying a double degree at UTS, Bachelor Sport & Exercise Science (Education) with Bachelor International Studies (France). I really struggled with the first couple of trimesters, not enjoying what I was studying. So, I decided to take the next trimester off and spent my time volunteering in Fiji, at Naviti District School in the Yasawa Islands.
Coming back home, I was certain that I wanted to get into PE teaching. I spoke to my old PDHPE teacher and she recommended ACPE, as it is a specialised institution with a sole focus on sports. Within a month of sending through an expression of interest form to the Admissions Team, I was enrolled for my first semester of study in 2018!
My dream is to become a PDHPE teacher and show kids the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as helping them grow and develop into the best version of themselves, on and off the field. I know that ACPE is the best place for my dream to become a reality, with the staff supporting me every step of the way and always making time for me when I need it. More so, the partnerships that ACPE provide through Professional Experience and Career Development Services means that I will have plenty of opportunities to develop my skills and get my foot in the door when I graduate.
Sport for me has always been a huge part of my life, with countless Saturdays being spent at Netball, both playing and umpiring, and Thursday evenings at Touch Footy. Early morning Kickboxing sessions have always been a great stress reliever for me, too. Most recently, I have started playing Futsal after representing ACPE at 2019 UniSport Games at the Gold Coast.
On the weekend, you can catch me checking out the beautiful beaches of Sydney, having super cute, insta-worthy brunch dates with friends, boxing it out at the gym or reading a good book outside with my dogs.
