Self-Starter Scholarship Details

At ACPE, we are committed to providing you with equal and supportive opportunities. The Self-Starter Scholarship is intended to recognise your life journey that may have been challenging, as well your outstanding academic excellence or your career in the sports industry. Consideration will be given to applicants from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, applicants from rural and remote communities within Australia, students who have a disability or advocating for inclusion, high achieving students and our alumni network.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen residing permanently in Australia
  • have completed the Australian Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
  • be commencing studies at ACPE in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course in the study period of application
  • be enrolled in a minimum of three study units in the study period of application and meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
    • be from a rural town or remote community within Australia
    • have a physical disability, ongoing illness or advocating for inclusion
    • demonstrate high academic achievement
    • a part of the ACPE alumni network

This scholarship is non deferable.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • academic merit and/or
  • your written personal statement (details of what to include is outlined in the Evidence Required section below)

Evidence Required

  • A well written Personal Statement of purpose where you express your academic goals, field of interest, and how this scholarship is going to contribute to your academic and career aspirations. This response should highlight your passion, motivation, and impact you will have both as an ACPE student and in your area of study (coaching, dance, education, football, health, sport business). This should include an introduction about you and a paragraph (of no more than 100 words per paragraph) on each of the following:
    .
    • Explain what you hope to achieve by studying this course
    • Describe how your passion in this area is going to drive your continued academic success and/or your career ambition in the sports industry
    • Show evidence of your previous involvement in sports, projects, academic competitions, independent study or accomplishments in the sports industry (to enhance your application)
    • How will you contribute to ACPE and its community as a scholarship student?

      Additional questions that may be applicable to some students:
    • Alumni: describe any personal skills and attributes you have developed over the years (e.g. communication, decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, inspire and motivating others), and give examples of how you’ve used these effectively
    • Students with a physical disability or ongoing illness: demonstrate how your involvement in sport or dance has made a positive impact on your community, school or team. Give examples of any initiatives or projects you have been a part of, including your advocacy in the sport or dance community for people with disabilities or ongoing illness

  • Supporting evidence which may include a statutory declaration, evidence of circumstances, etc.
