ACPE Lecturer Publishes Research in the International Journal of Sport

We are excited to share news of ACPE Lecturer Sam Lane, who has recently obtained part of his research published in the International Journal of Sport and Society. The article titled ‘Empowering Elite Athlete Education in Australian Professional Sports’ addresses the importance for athletes to achieve and succeed in education.

“Ultimately, whether sporting organisations feel motivated to support their athletes through a sense of duty of care, see it as an opportunity for a competitive edge, or value it as an avenue for commercial prosperity, there is a convincing argument to be made for meaningful and effective investment in off-field athlete development.”

Additionally, Sam has organised a group of guest lectures and practicals for ACPE students across Semester 2 for the unit ‘Inclusive Physical Activity’. These include;

  • Sport NSW (Disability Inclusion) – Murray Elbourn & Sonja Balic
  • Special Olympics Australia – Pierre Comis & Leisl Stimpson
  • Wheelchair Sports NSW – Pat Curtin
  • Collective Leisure – David Burns
  • Parraroos – Tim Palmer
  • Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) – John Hutchinson
  • National Rugby League (NRL) – Dene Halatau
