ACPE and Sport NSW Moving Forward Together

ACPE and Sport NSW Moving Forward Together

The Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) and Sport NSW have renewed their partnership for another three years. Since commencing the partnership in 2016, ACPE and Sport NSW have worked collaboratively and strategically to deliver programs and projects for both the wider sporting community and students and alumni of ACPE. With the relationship taking on new highs each year, committing to a further three years was the logical decision to make for each organisation.

The partnership renewal will continue to open up and deliver a high-level knowledge exchange between the sports industry and ACPE, with ACPE playing an active role in contributing to the sporting community. This has been highlighted in recent years by a wide range of professional development opportunities being offered to Sport NSW members, and ACPE students gaining industry experience with some of the leading minds in sport and, more recently, through the Timeout Talks #unitedforsport webinar series. Sport NSW and ACPE are committed to working together to provide further development opportunities and to support to the sporting community through the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to being partners, being neighbours on Parkview Drive in Sydney Olympic Park has ensured that the NSW sporting community have made plenty of visits to ACPE’s state-of-the-art campus to attend events such as the Sport NSW Industry Conference and Annual General Meeting. As the leading provider of sport, dance, fitness, health and education, ACPE provides students with high quality industry experience opportunities whist they study. With Sport NSW counting more than 80 sporting organisations as its members, ACPE students and alumni have thoroughly enjoyed gaining first-hand experience to apply their classroom learning in the real world. ACPE has since taken its industry experience program online with the creation of the ACPE Careers Hub, allowing Sport NSW members to register and promote their career opportunities instantly to over 700 students and a network of alumni that spans over 100 years.

Sport NSW CEO, Steve Loader, said, “Sport NSW is pleased to have renewed our partnership with ACPE. As sport ultimately emerges from the current COVID-19 pandemic, ACPE graduates will find that their sport-focussed learning in a specialist tertiary institution will provide them with a great start with, or continuation of, their career and interest in sport.  We look forward to growing the partnership over the next few years and seeing ACPE students in the sporting sector.”

ACPE Partnerships Manager, Michael McKnight, firmly believes that the relationship will continue to go from strength to strength. “Since we announced our partnership with Sport NSW in 2016, we have been able to work together to design and deliver a range of key initiatives for the sporting community. Students of ACPE have also been able to network with industry professionals across the state to enhance both their personal and professional development. 2020 has been a difficult year and ACPE would like to play a supporting role with sports by opening up our resources and help in any way that we can.”, he said.

Keep an eye out for the next collaboration between ACPE and Sport NSW.
