Staff Bio

Tye McGann is a passionate educator and experienced professional in the fields of exercise science and sports performance. His academic journey began at the University of Newcastle, where he earned a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science. Eager to expand his expertise, Tye pursued a Master’s in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) from Edith Cowan University. This led him back to the University of Newcastle to complete a Master of Philosophy in Physiotherapy, where he focused on the impact of game demands and fatigue effects on elite-level basketball players.

In addition to his academic achievements, Tye has gained valuable practical experience working within the Regional Academy network. His roles in strength and conditioning and sports program development which allowed him to collaborate with the Office of Sport, NSWIS and other organizations to nurture youth athletes and guide them on their sporting journeys.

Tye joined the Health Science team as a lecturer in 2024, where he shares his wealth of knowledge with students across various units, including exercise physiology, biomechanics, functional anatomy, and exercise prescription. His teaching style is driven by his commitment to empowering future professionals and helping them apply academic concepts to real-world settings.
