Adrian’s formal qualifications include a PhD degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Newcastle, a Master’s degree in Human Movement Science, a Honor’s degree in Human Movement Science (Biokinetics) and an undergraduate degree in Human Movement Science and Psychology from the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He is also an accredited Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach through the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist through Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and holds past sports massage therapy, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment certifications.

Adrian is a past lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Newcastle, having lectured at the University for 12 years, and continues to lecture in sports performance, on a part-time basis, at the Australian College of Physical Education. He also continues to participate in research, supervising current Honours and PhD students, while also undertaking his own research. His research interests include applied strength and conditioning, biomechanics and motor control, with a view to enhancing athletic performance, preventing injury and preserving musculoskeletal health.

To date, he has published 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented 32 conference proceedings at international strength and conditioning and exercise and sport science conferences in the United States, Australia, United Kingdom and Singapore.

Adrian’s own sporting background is in track sprinting and rugby union. He also served in the military completing infantry officer’s training as part of his national service in the South African Defense Force.
